October 11th, 2018

Hello, fiddle families!

All after-school private lesson times are full, but I still have plenty of space for Twinkle Tots ages 3-5, and any students who can come before 3pm. You are also welcome to register to get on the list for the Spring Semester starting in mid-January of 2019. To sign up, make sure you read through my studio policies, then head to the register page here on the site!

This coming Monday, we will be having another "Master Class" open to all levels! A master class is a mini-private lesson in front of a group where each student will play a song of choice, and the focus will be on technique, rather than remembering songs and repertoire. We usually have time to do at least one game at the end as a group too! If you missed a group class or private lesson some time this semester, this is a great way to catch up.

This month's Potluck & Fiddle Jam will be Hosted at the Jays' (you can email me for the address if you don't have it on your mail out calendar) October 20th at 4:30pm. All levels are welcome, and any family members who play instruments are always encouraged to jam along with us :-) We usually jam for about an hour and then eat and socialize around 5:30 or so. If you can't make it to this jam, we will have one every month, so hopefully you can make the next on on November 17th.

The last Monday in October (the 29th) would normally be an off-week for group classes for Stars & Graduates, so I have decided to host a free Spooky Suzuki Party for everyone after the Twinkle Tots class! Students can come to class dressed up in their Halloween costumes, and I will have some fun and spooky songs, games, and treats at the end!

I have a few ideas for later this semester that are not on the Semester schedule yet including possibly one more small performance, and definitely some kind of Bunny Graduation. I've been a bit behind on getting this all on the website, but I have been pretty consistent about emailing all of my current studio families about any schedule changes.

If you haven't already, please try to make a habit of listening to this semester's recital repertoire CD as much as you can (preferably every day!) The CD includes selected repertoire from the Suzuki and Fiddle books, but also has some traditional tunes that I transposed and recorded myself. In addition to hearing them routinely in the order we will be performing them, you will also start to memorize what some of the more advanced songs sound like before you learn them! Unfortunately, I do not have any recordings of the Pre-Twinkle pieces, but it sounds like Kathleen Spring might have something in the works for the future for at least the Bunny Ballads, so stay tuned!

I think that is all I have to report for now. I hope you all are having a wonderful fall semester! Happy fiddling!
